As a child my Auntie Joan would have a Christmas party ever year. One of my fondest memories is sitting on the floor or her kitchen watching her make the chocolate rum balls. I remember eating dozens of these the night of her Christmas party. I can't wait for you to try this family gem.

Ingredients in Chocolate Rum Balls
- Semi-sweet Chocolate Chips
- Almond Paste
- Sour Cream
- Vanilla Wafers
- Icing Sugar
- Unsalted Butter
- Cocoa
- 1 and ½ cups Rum (yaaaaas!)
- Pecans
How to Make My Chocolate Rum Ball Recipe:
- Begin by melting chocolate chips in a medium saucepan over low heat. Remove saucepan from heat and transfer chocolate into a medium bowl.
- Next add sour cream, almond paste and salt into bowl containing melted chocolate.
- In a separate bowl, mix together finely chopped vanilla wafers, icing sugar, cocoa, melted butter, rum and pecans.
- Add mixture containing wafers and rum to the first bowl and mix to combine.
- Refrigerate for 24 hours in a covered container before rolling into 1" balls.
- Once chilled, roll into 1" balls. Next, roll chocolate rum balls in shaved chocolate.
- Place into foil wrapper and store in the refrigerator until ready to eat!
How to Store Rum Balls
Rum balls should be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator. For maximum freshness, do not roll rum balls into 1" balls until the day you intend to eat them.

Chocolate Rum Ball Recipe
Ingredients
- 12 oz semi-sweet chocolate chips
- ½ cup almond paste
- 1 cup sour cream
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 8 cups vanilla wafers chopped finely
- 3 cups icing sugar
- 1 cup unsalted butter melted
- ⅔ cup cocoa
- 1½ cups rum
- 2 cups pecans chopped finely
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan over low to medium heat, melt chocolate chips. Remove from heat and transfer to a medium bowl. Add in almond paste, sour cream, and salt and stir to combine.
- In a separate medium bowl mix together chopped vanilla wafers, icing sugar, melted butter, cocoa, rum, and pecans.
- Combine the two mixtures and mix well.
- Place in a covered container in the fridge for 24 hours. Do not roll into balls yet.
- Once chilled, remove from fridge and roll into small 1" balls. Roll in shredded chocolate.
