I'm so excited to share these easy valentine cupcakes decorating ideas! These buttercream heart cupcakes are super easy to make and extra cute.
What You'll Need
- Cupcakes (I used my homemade chocolate cupcake recipe)
- Buttercream Frosting (here's the easy Swiss meringue buttercream frosting I used)
- Wilton 1A Piping Tip
- Wilton 4B Piping Tip
- Piping Bags
- Sprinkles
How to make Valentine's Day Cupcakes
- Place sprinkles onto a plate.
- Pipe a large dollop of buttercream frosting onto your cupcakes. With a piping bag fit with the Wilton 1A piping tip, hold the bag perpendicular to the cupcake. Apply moderate pressure and allow the buttercream to flow out of the piping bag. Do not move raise the piping bag. Buttercream will push outward to the sides of the cupcake. Release pressure and lift up.
2. Dip your frosted cupcake into sprinkles. Cover the entire frosted portion of the cupcake.
3. Tilt the cupcake on its sides in order to cover the side borders of the buttercream frosting.
4. Directly onto your cupcake, pipe a buttercream heart. I've demonstrated on a parchment paper so you can have a better view. Fit your second piping bag with the Wilton 4B tip. Hold your piping bag at a 45 degree angle. Apply moderate pressure and pipe a diagonal line slowly releasing pressure as you come to centre. Repeat in the opposite direction.
There you have it! Simple, but absolutely darling Valentine's Day cupcakes.
