If you've ever said to yourself: "I don't have time" this post is for you.
Maybe you're a busy mom or maybe you work full time, or maybe this is you - you work, have friends and family you spend time with, you have commitments -- you don't have time to bake and decorate a cake from scratch!!!
I hear you, BUT I'm here to show you that you do have time to make a cake from scratch and I'm going to show you how! I promise, you can do this.
Baking a cake from scratch doesn't have to be stressful. In fact, it can be fun, relieve stress, and leave you feeling accomplished and inspired. Here are a few steps to take to put the fun back in baking!
Organize
1. A few days before you intend to bake, read through the entire recipe. Check to see what ingredients you have already and which you need to pick up. Also note which ingredients need to be room temperature so you can remove them from the fridge before beginning to bake.
2. Pre-measure your ingredients. To prevent making a mistake and remain calm through the entirety of the baking process, I always pre-measure my ingredients before I start baking.
3. Figure out when you can dedicate time to baking. I know, I know this is the tough one but it's crucial to carving out small chunks of uninterrupted time to prevent errors, make the process enjoyable and create a successful recipe! I have full guide called The Busy Girl Guide and you can grab it below.
Make Baking Fun!
- Start with a clean and organized kitchen. This will make the whole process less stressful and more fun. Take the time to clear a space on the counter. You will have room to work and won't feel cluttered and overwhelmed.
- Turn on your favorite music. Music always makes me feel happy, so let's create a happy environment with low stress.
How to Bake and Decorate a Cake from Scratch 1 Week Schedule:
Did you know that you can bake a cake and freeze the cake layers until you're ready (read: have time) to decorate it? When I first started making cakes I felt so stressed out about:
- How far in advance to bake the cake layers
- How to store cake layers
- How long buttercream frosting is good for
- Scheduling the entire process from start to finish of baking, decorating, and serving my cake
For this reason...
I've created a full guide called The Busy Girl's Guide to schedule baking and decorating a cake from scratch that outlines exactly how I take 1 week (yes you read that correctly!!!!) to bake and decorate my cakes. Leave the stress at the door, I've got you covered. Click on the button below to grab it - I promise you, if I can do it so can you!
I can't wait to hear about everything you bake up now that you've got your hands on my scheduling guide! Make sure to tag me and use the #bakedbyblair so I can see what you're baking.
