This chocolate chip banana bread recipe is so quick and easy to make! The vegetable oil and greek yogurt create a supremely moist loaf with a tender crumb and packed with gooey chocolate chips. Your taste buds will be happy!
Ingredients You'll Need to Make this Banana Bread
- Bananas: make sure your bananas are ripe. I like to leave mine out on the counter for several days until they become brown and a bit yucky looking!!
- Vegetable Oil: this oil doesn't have a strong flavour and adds tons of moisture.
- Sugar: a combination of light and dark sugar add depth of flavour.
- Eggs: always use eggs that are room temperature in order to allow all of the ingredients to incorporate fully.
- Unsweetened plain greek yogurt: another important moisture booster for our banana bread recipe.
- All Purpose Flour: make sure you measure your flour properly. Do not use the measuring cup to scoop out flour. Instead, spoon flour into the cup. This prevents excess flour from being back down and drying out our loaf.
- Baking Powder: assists with leavening process.
- Baking Soda: helps with leavening!
- Salt: important to balance out the sweetness of our banana bread.
- Chocolate Chips: I don't think I need to explain why chocolate chips are a good idea in banana bread --!! I like to use milk chocolate chips but you can use semi-sweet as well.
How do I store banana bread?
Banana bread can be wrapped tightly in plastic wrap and stored at room temperature for 3-4 days. You can freeze banana bread by wrapping it tightly in plastic wrap 2 times and placing in a freeze bag. It will remain fresh in the freezer for up to 3 months.
Why is my banana bread dense?
Your banana bread can we dense when you add too much flour. If you measure your flour incorrectly it can lead to excess flour. Make sure to spoon flour into your measuring cup, do not use the measuring cup as a scoop. Increased density also occurs when you over mix your batter. More gluten is produced through mixing, and gluten is responsible for density.
My bananas aren't very ripe, will this recipe still work?
It's important to use bananas that are very ripe. Ripe bananas are sweeter and incorporate better. If your bananas aren't ripe enough, place them in a warm spot in front of the window to ripen faster.

This banana bread is so delicious! Every time I've made it everyone says this is so good and so flavorful. I did alter the recipe a bit; I added more than 1 cup of chocolate chips 🙂 The more the better right?
Thank you Blair for sharing this incredible recipe.

This is my favorite banana bread recipe!! I’ve made it a few times and it always turns out amazing. It is simple and super easy to make. I didn’t have Greek yogurt this last time so I used sour cream instead. This is now my go-to recipe when I have over ripe bananas!
